Then again, Liza’s owners, Mike, the skilled chef and his a creative sommelier-wife, were both trained in the art of fine dining, an art offered to the two-dozen or so enrolled in Liza’s once-a-month cooking class.
This month’s class was based on the upcoming movie, “Julie and Julia,” and Mike prepared a feast based on French recipes from Julia Child’s famous book. Each recipe was carefully chosen, prepared in detail and absolutely delicious. So, here is the run down:
The Courses:
Before I get into the food, let me set the scene for you. Tables draped in white, glasses fi...

The Beach Mice is Northwest Florida’s newest beach band – Named after the endangered species of beach mouse native to the beach from Panama City, Florida to Gulf Shores, Alabama. ( ooh.. the things those poor mice have seen…) The band is a three to five piece band – fronted by Jacob Mohr and Dave DeMonki. The Beach Mice play a mostly acoustic mix of older beach faves and contemporary pop songs. Three part vocal harmonies, solid original material, and the occasional violin/fiddle tune give this group a niche in Destin – an area full of talent and well-respected musicians.
The band has a modern southern flair with 3-part vocal harmonies – Subtle and engaging before dark.. Rockin as the sun goes down – Think Fun!!!
Here’s a quick taste of what ...

Over the past few years, Panama City Beach has seen the arrival of numerous great new restaurants – from well known favorites to one-of-a-kind eateries. Throughout this exciting gastronomic evolution one restaurant remains a beach staple and thankfully, hasn’t changed a thing. Captain Anderson’s Restaurant and Waterfront Market remains as superb today as it did when the Patronis family opened the doors back in October of 1967.
This Panama City Beach landmark restaurant was named among America’s Top 50 restaurants, was the recipient of the “Best Seafood Restaurant” award from Southern Living, and received Wine Spectator’s “Award of Excellence.” Additionally, Captain Anderson’s won Florida Trend’s Golden Spoon Award for 15 years before being inducted...
