The Nouveaux Honkies @ Pineapple Willy’s Pier Bar Oct. 9th
The Nouveaux Honkies The great state of Florida has its own blues roots; an imaginative blues interpretation that has both the flair of northern swing and the tonkiness of the south. The Nouveaux Honkies have stormed on the blues music scene and since 2006 have recorded two albums, and blazed a trail of high energy shows that have left the south buzzing. And that show, usually billed simply as blues, explodes with powerful vocals, blistering guitars and a violin that frequently leaves jaws on the floor. The Nouveaux Honkies is not your typical blues band. They are musical mayhem concealed by a s...

Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge at Pier Park: More than Just Another Country Bar
If you live or vacation in Panama City Beach, chances are you have heard of Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge at Pier Park. The first Tootsie’s started out as “Mom’s” in Nashville, Tennessee, and was bought in 1960 by Tootsie Bess. Tootsie actually credits a painter with naming the bar, after she came in one day and found that he had painted the whole place orchid – thus the name Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge. Today, Tootsie’s in Nashville is world-famous, and one of the nation’s top country music nightspots, with many famous names stopping by or performing on a regular basis. In May 2008, Tootsie’s came to the then new Pier Park in Panama City Beach and has been showing both locals and tourists a rockin’ good time ever since. There are many reasons Tootsie’s has climbed higher and...

9/29 – Weekly Fishing Report by Half Hitch Tackle
Salt Water MEXICO BEACH/PORT ST JOE OFFSHORE Reports have the grouper at the one hundred to one twenty-foot mark and the complaint remains the same, the nearly extinct red snappers are making it difficult to reach the grouper. Using larger baits may improve your chances for grouper. The king mackerel reports are coming from the Air Force tower this week with some reports from outside the car bodies and Virginia reef areas. Drifting live baits and trolling dusters with cigar minnows are the way to go. Spanish mackerel continue to be caught trolling Clark spoons and Mackerel trees, or drifting cigar minnows along the buoy line and the cape shoals area. ST JOSEPH BAY Redfish are widely scattered this week with all the rain and reports are coming in from all over the bay. Try fishing the flat...
