There’s shopping, there’s surfing and then there’s Mr. Surf’s Surf Shop; a Panama City Beach gem that truly embodies the spirit of the city. Originally built in 1980 and owned by Frank and Nadine Brown, the store was the first of its kind on the beach to offer such an unparalleled selection of surfboards, skim boards, skateboards, accessories, and surf & beach apparel guys and girls of all ages. In 1998 the store was bought moved by its current owners Tony and Lib (Mama Surf) Johnson and not long after Mr. Surf’s became more than a store but a beach landmark and a generational haven for beach lovers.

Don’t believe me? Go down to the store, check out the Wall of Fame and see for yourself. Polaroid’s of patrons dating back to 1980 decorate the entire back wall. Even Tony, who sees the Wall of Fame every day, sometimes stares in amazement. “So many times we’ll get kids who come in to buy a board and see their fathers on the wall buying their first board. Mr. Surf’s isn’t me…it really is a beach landmark.”

What makes the store so awesome is its authenticity. Tony and Lib are surfers. Combined, they have 36 years of surfing experience, hitting the water every day. That energy follows them back to the store and show in the passion they have for their jobs. And by passion, I mean service. People, this isn’t just a retail store. Mr. Surfs offers surf lessons and programs, skate programs and eco tours. They even have board rentals, repairs, and a storage and delivery program where seasonal condo owners can leave their boards until they come back. This summer they’ll be adding a beach activity camp. The camp will combine all things beach and fun; surfing, skimming, snorkeling, beach music and games. On top of all that, Tony himself provides the most accurate & up-to-date Daily Surf Report for the Gulf Coast and the Panama City Beach area.

On your next visit, we encourage you to stop by Mr. Surf’s. If not for the sweet gear, the boards or the information, stop by and check out the Wall of Fame. You might see someone you know.

Mr. Surfs is located at 7220 Thomas Drive just two miles West of St. Andrews State Park. Store Hours: Monday – Sunday 10:00am – 6:00pm
Currently closed Wednesdays .Hours are subject to change during the seasonal year.

You ever wondered what the best places were to meet for lunch and have access to the almighty internet? Ever wanted to surf while you got your work out on? Well, the staff here at SeePCB had been wondering the same thing for quite some time. So, we decided to compile a list of the top 5 public places to surf that have wifi.

Enjoy!

Joey’s Java Juice

You can have your cake and eat it too! ‘er caffeine, that is. Joey’s made it to number one because of the cool coffee shop atmosphere, reasonable prices on food and beverages and beverage selection that includes items other than coffee. Starbucks is out for those that don’t drink coffee products but still want our caffeine. Sorry Starbucks. Plus, you don’t need any pesky login info or password to access their Wi-Fi.

Joey’s Java Juice is located on Back Beach Road in the same plaza as Jin Jin and Firehouse Subs just west of R Jackson Blvd (Beckrich).

Fatty’s Sandwich Shop

Great food, fun atmosphere and super sweet location. Fatty’s has, hands-down, the best sandwiches I have yet to eat in Panama City Beach. In addition to the two computers paying patrons can use, you can munch and hook up to their Wi-Fi if you come packin’ a laptop.

Fatty’s Sandwich Shop is located in the bottom right of the Calypso Beach Towers parking garage. Calypso Towers are the orange buildings you can see from Pier Park.

Pier Park

Of course, we can’t leave out Pier Park! Pier Park is the greatest shopping and dining “thing” to come to Panama City Beach – and the whole place is unwired. Now, we all love Pier Park, but the reason they aren’t up higher is because they limit the bandwidth and speed of those connected. Understandable, but still frustrating. However, you can’t beat coming out and hooking up!

Roy’s Burger and Fries

You looking for that perfect local burger joint? Well, look no further. Roy’s has got it all – either grilled or steamed burgers, 100% all beef hot dogs, and toppings to no end. And, the most important thing for us geeks and nerds? Roy’s Burgers and Fries has Wi-Fi. So, grab your laptop and go get a burger, fries and soda.

Roy’s Burgers and Fries is located in the Edgewater Shopping Plazza at Front Beach Road and R Jackson Blvd (Bechrich), to the north of the bowling alley.

Lords Gym

Well, I don’t know why you’d want to get your surf on while getting your work-out on, but if you do, this is the place to do it. Of course, being a mobile addict, this comes in real handy as I can keep the emails coming and mobile surfing up to speed regardless of having cellular service. Of course, I should probably stop working long enough to work out – doh!

Lord’s Gym is located off Allison, in between Front Beach Road and Back Beach Road.

Be on the look out for the Top 5 award!
