Get Lucky at Beef O Brady’s

Cleverly placed right in the middle of Panama City Beach lies a family oriented Irish sports pub, Beef O Brady’s.  With 20 inch flat panels at each table and big screens hung on the walls throughout, there’s always something to keep you entertained and the food’s great too!

Subscribing to all the sports packages, including football, baseball and Nascar, Beef ‘O’ Brady’s is the place to go to watch your favorite sports.  Whether you are watching from your own personal TV or one of the several big screen flat panels hung on the walls, you’re sure not to miss out on the action.  And, if you have your kids with you, and they aren’t too into sports, bring your DVD case, because you have your own personal DVD player accompanying the 20 inch flat panel at your table.

Don’t want to pay the PayPerView fee for that next fight?  Go out to Beef’s for a cold one and a burger and watch the fight.  Many local pubs and restaurants charge a fee to watch the features on these channels, but at Beef’s just buy some food and you’re good to go.

The atmosphere is great and the environment fun, but how’s the food?  One word: great.  I wasn’t sure what to expect, having never been to Beef’s before, but I was very happy to finish each one from the slider basket I ordered.  The delicious little ground steak patties housed in light but crispy onion rolls were finger-licking good.  The modest looking fries were delish too, I actually finished mine, which NEVER happens.  My buddy got the Buffalo Chicken Wrap, like he always does.  His answer was a little corny when asked why he always orders it, but it must be genuine as he keeps coming back for more, “Great taste, great value.”  Sounds like a beer commercial from the eighties.

I’ve got to go back to the family aspect of this place, though.  They really do gear it around families and kids.  As I walk around and gaze at all the sports memorabilia, I’m brought back to my childhood, dreaming of professional sports and the magic of being a part of something so loved by so many.  I remember going out to eat with my parents at the same restaurant almost like a weekly tradition and playing video games until dinner came, then after while my parents finished up.  Beef ‘O’ Brady’s has video games for the kids to play and best of all, Beef’s feeds the kids for free every Tuesday night from 4 to close.

Let me say that again.  Every Tuesday night, bring your family to Beef O Brady’s and your kids (under 12) will eat for free from 4 o’clock until the restaurant closes.

Main menu items range from $7 to $14 with categories from sandwiches to burgers to baskets to wraps.  Plus, we can’t leave out the New York Strip for $10.99.

Beef’s is located on Panama City Beach Parkway (Back Beach Road) in the same plaza as the UPS store, Shan Kishi and Carrabbas.

Their phone number is (850) 249-1551.

Download their menu.

If you go by, be sure to tell the owner operator Keith Evans that you read about it on SeePCB.

Discover the History of Diving at The Museum of the Man in the Sea

051309_mansea

Ever dreamed of exploring the depths of the ocean? How about the chance to climb through a submarine? Or perhaps you have wondered how divers could live underwater for weeks at a time? Man in the Sea Museum takes you on an exciting and educational journey through the history of deep sea voyaging and beyond. Owned by the Institute of Diving, this small non-profit museum is located on Panama City Beach Parkway, west of highway 79 in Panama City Beach and just minutes from Pier Park. After driving past the museum countless times and making a mental note to visit each and every single time I did, I decided it was time to check it out and see what the Man in the Sea Museum was all about!

Man in the Sea is actually an extremely family friendly attraction that offers both adults and kids a unique museum experience. The main objective of the museum is to explore man’s attempts to travel and work underwater and uncover the mysteries of the ocean. It illustrates this by providing an opportunity to get acquainted with the roots of diving through a variety of fascinating exhibits, submarines, a large collection of rare diving equipment, and videos and aquariums explaining the sea life found in St. Andrews Bay. Anyone who has an interest in the world of diving or underwater adventure, and even those who don’t – will be amazed by this aquatic treasure chest.

The original idea for establishing the institute and its museum was conceived in 1976 by a group of divers from the U.S. Navy’s SEALAB Program and representatives from commercial, academic, scientific, medical, and sport diving fields. The museum itself was actually founded in 1982, and has recently undergone a renovation that will help make the museum one of Bay County’s top visitor attractions. A perfect choice for a rainy day on the beach, Man in the Sea Museum can be easily combined with a nearby Pier Park shopping excursion.

The Man in the Sea Museum brings you treasures recovered from sunken ships dating from 1500, along with more recent commercial and naval equipment, vehicles, and habitats. Both kids and adults can climb through a submarine and other exhibits including the SEALAB-1, the world’s first working undersea habitat. In July of 1964, four divers were scheduled to go down and live in SEALAB-1 for a total of three weeks, but had to abandon the mission after just 11 days due to a hurricane. The divers wanted to show that with this brand new underwater habitat, it was scientifically possible for man to live underwater. The museum hopes to bring SEALAB-1 back to its former glory complete with comfortable living quarters at some point in the future. Donations and admission fees will help make this vision a reality, in addition to further renovation for future generations to enjoy.

Despite generations of exploration, we still have much to learn about the mysteries of the ocean. The answers to many of our questions still lie beneath the sea, waiting to be discovered. Of course we have already made significant progress and will continue to do so with new technologies, but the stories and discoveries from the past put us in touch with the ocean in a way that can never be replicated. The Man in the Sea Museum is dedicated to preserving those memories and the artifacts that bring them to life.

The Museum of the Man in the Sea is open daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and is closed on Mondays.

Admission is $5.00 for adults, and $2.50 for children aged 6-16 yrs. Children under 5 are free, and seniors and groups receive a 10% discount.

Located at 17314 Panama City Beach Parkway, Panama City Beach.

Title: Biscuit Miller and the Mix
Location: Pineapple Willy’s Pier Bar
Start Date: 2009-05-14
End Date: 2009-05-16

This week, May 14 – 16 2009, at Pineapple Willy’s Pier Bar, enjoy acclaimed blues bass guitarists Biscuit Miller.

Biscuit Miller, one of the funkiest bass players around, is on the loose again and fronting his own band “Biscuit Miller and The Mix.” Joined by Jordan Lunardini, Paxton Norris and Myron “Mad Hatter” Robinson, these guys really know how to “get down!”

Biscuit is well known for playing behind Chicago’s legendary Lonnie Brooks and most recently with The Anthony Gomes Band. Biscuit co-wrote “Testify” from the album “Live” which has reached Billboard’s number one album on the Blues charts.

High energy, charismatic band with lots of show. What’s better than a bowlful of soulful, funky Blues stew? A pipin’ hot Biscuit, of course!

Here’s a taste of Biscuit:

10 Reasons to Vacation on Panama City Beach

Top 10 Reasons to Vacation on Panama City Beach

stockxpertcom_id697825_size210. Weather
Do you know the average temperature for Panama City Beach? No? 78°. That’s right, a magnificent 78°, which I’ll bet for some of you is warmer than your summer days. Early spring begins late January where you will find “snowbirds” (winter vacationers) walking the beach, tanning and building sandcastles. Summer temperatures are in full swing by April, warming the gulf enough for water sports and excellent fishing. And the Fall, my personal favorite, keeps the nights a cool 68 – 75° , perfect for seasonal outings and dinner cruises.

ripleus9. Ripley’s Believe or Not Museum
Who doesn’t love a good ol’ shrunken head? But after a while even tiny skulls get boring. Panama City Beach’s “Ripley’s” has an added feature that’s sure to liven things up. A 4-D movie zooms you deep into a mine cave and up into space. Its totally fun. What’s even more amazing is that they even have a booth that transforms human beings into hermit crabs. Okay, that last bit wasn’t entirely true…but you’re welcome to believe it anyway…OR NOT!

1-club-la-vela28. Club La Vela
If clubs are your thing, there’s no better place to dance and play than the “Largest Club in the US”. Club La Vela has several themed rooms, each with its own atmosphere, ambiance, feel, and audience. You’ll find Hip-Hop, and High-Energy dance fans in the Thunderdome, you’ll see techno-lovers and trendy people in the Underground, Nightgallery, and in Galaxy Club dancing to Break Beats, Progressive House, Chicago Hard House, and Jungle. They even have Live Rock, a Sportszone and a Foam room. You’ll think you’ve died and gone to super-club heaven.

main_dining_room7. Pompanos Restaurant
Whenever tourists approach a local and ask where they can get fresh, delicious seafood, almost unfailingly, the answer is Pompanos Restaurant. Everything about Pompano’s exudes laid back beach. Located at the entrance to Front Beach Road, from the palm frond ceiling fans to the nautical theme, Pompanos doesn’t miss a beat. Startlingly fresh seafood, skillfully cut sushi and an atmosphere so relaxed and tropical you’ll want to take off your shirt and shoes and kick back. But, please, do remain clothed.

standrews6. St. Andrews State Park
Perennially on top 10 lists for America’s most beautiful beaches, St. Andrews State Park is absolutely breathtaking. And there’s a great deal more to the park than beach. Vacationers get into nature and enjoy alligator ponds, nature trails, shell island tours, camp grounds and some of the best fishing in town. There are few things better on Panama City Beach then spending an afternoon at St. Andrews State Park, renting a jet ski and a snorkel and truly having an adventure. You’ll see dolphins, alligators, all sorts of marine life…definitely worth being called “World’s Most Beautiful Beach”.

dolphinkiss35. Gulf World Marine Park – Panama City Beach
Have you ever wanted to swim with a dolphin? No, not a rubber-floaty shaped like a dolphin, an actual “Flipper” underwater mammal? Would you like to? If you answered yes, the place for you is Gulf World Marine Park on Panama City Beach. They offer full access to dolphin habitats allowing you to get pulled by a dorsal fin or get a dolphin kiss. They also offer opportunities to be a trainer for a day and learn what its like to take care of these awesome animals. But that’s not all. Not only can you swim with the dolphins, but hang out with sea lions, parrots, alligators, sting rays, sharks, sea turtles, penguins, reptiles and even Elvis. Yep, you heard right, Elvis.

willys4. Willy’s Pier Bar a.k.a The Pier Bar at Pineapple Willy’s
Show of hands; how many people like food, music, sports and beach? Good, that’s everyone. P. Willy’s Pier Bar rocks, literally and figuratively. A new addition to the Pineapple Willy’s restaurant, Pier Bar is the ultimate after-hours spot. All the best blues bands, awesome food and drinks and a better view of the beach than you can get on a postcard. Not as rowdy as a club, Pier Bar has just the right blend of laid back and exciting to make for an awesome night out. Pineapple Willy’s Pier Bar also made the top 5 places to watch the game list.

firefly3. Firefly – Panama City Beach Restaurant
Good food can be found in many places. Great food, however, cannot. You might’ve had a dream once where you thought you had great food. It wasn’t great food. You haven’t enjoyed truly great food until you’ve tasted Firefly’s Espresso-braised Free-range Texas Boar Shank. Firefly is one of the most elegant dining experiences on the beach. The food is upscale, the setting is intimate and you will not find a trendier place for Martini’s. Also try the Ahi Tuna with the soy-lime ginger sauce. You’ll swear off cooking for a week.

pierpark12. Pier Park – Panama City Beach
Panama City Beach’s recent and biggest addition is Pier Park, an outdoor mall and entertainment boardwalk. Tourists and locals alike absolutely love Pier Park. If not for the great stores, then for the state-of-the-art movie theater, or the most unique restaurants in all of NW Florida, or the outdoor amphitheater with live summer shows. It can be any of those things, but my guess is everyone loves it because of the choo-choo train. Who doesn’t love a choo-choo train? Pier Park stands alone complete with festivals, events, rallies and all sorts of cool stuff normal “malls” just don’t have. Not to mention it’s on the beach. Come to PCB and go to Pier Park. If you don’t go to Pier Park you haven’t really vacationed on Panama City Beach.

water21. The Beach
Were you expecting anything else? Panama City’s Beach is the number one reason to vacation on Panama City Beach. Show us an all around better beach that doesn’t require a passport and a vacation guide named Reynard who, for some odd reason, prefers banana hammocks over board shorts. Panama City Beach is without rival in that category. Although world renowned for its Spring Break season, after the students have gone back to school, the beach transforms; gone are all the beer cans and Mardi gras beads and what remains is a quiet, sparkling paradise. PCB has a dedicated Tourist Development Council that puts a lot of money and care into making PCB an enjoyable, relaxing experience for vacationers.

These are our reasons…

What are yours?
