great list! but i have to disagree with you on several things.
pompanos has gone down in the quality of their service. they don’t even let you sit at the sushi bar anymore! maybe it’s because of the cockroaches that were seen scampering about! their rolls lack that special touch and i’m pretty sure they use dull knives because their fish always looks hacked.
and shan kishi?! number 1?! i guess if you like a lot, and i mean a lot of sauces with you sushi. do you want some sushi with your sauce? every single one of our rolls was so sauce overloaded that we couldn’t taste anything else.
but again… thank you for the list! i’ll have to try out the other ones!

Cebo! I don’t know how but I stumbled across this website and was shocked to see your picture! Now I know your such a sushi enthusiest you, Kalyn, Ty and I need to all go out one night. Except we need to go to the restaurant you left off the list: MORI!!! It’s our fave! So lets get some sitters and go have some one night!

    • Hey Katie! Glad to see you made your way to the site. And, for the record, I’m not quite the sushi enthusiast that Kaylyn is but I can definitely take down a roll. We love Mori too. That place has a great vibe, in fact on the site I wrote a top 5 places “In Town” article and Mori made the list. I’m in for some dinner with you guys, just let me know when. Oh, and tell Ty thanks again for his medical expertise.

I am glad we are finally getting some good sushi on the beach but disagree with most of your picks. After looking at the tuna at Oishi I took a pass and had the thai which is wonderful the dressing on the salads is amazing. Also the last 3 times I have tried Mikato the sushi has been poor the eel was extremly fishy and actually unedible. I agree with Sake house and Shan Kishi but the number one on the beach right now is Jin Jin 88, try the Passage to India roll it is wonderful. And as for Pompano I stopped going there long ago when they fired their trained sushi chef. Sushi is an art not just anyone can do it. As for in town I would go with Kobe and Mori.

    • I haven’t tried Jin Jin 88, but will stop by on my next major sushi craving. As for Mikato, it does sometimes feel a bit hit or miss; on some days it’s wonderful and others not so much–but when its on they can serve a good roll. I love Shan Kishi and Sake House, but I will say as for the town restaurants both Kobe and Mori are amazing. Mori is so authentic and the atmosphere is just great. Kobe is the perfect place to stop and get lunch, it’s small and quaint and the staff really take care of its patrons. I guess we’ll have to do a top 5 places in town to get sushi next.

  4. The New hotness try Firefly and also don’t forget about Kingfish too.
